On June 30th, 2021, in Moscow, the 12th annual meeting of the National Union of Swine Breeders members was held in an offline format for the first time in a while after the introduced restrictions. Current issues of the pig breeding area were discussed at the event. The meeting was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, the regional offices of agro-industrial complex and veterinary medicine, the enterprises of the industry, science and business, the unions and associations of the related industries, the media, as well as foreign guests.
The welcoming words in the official part of the event were said by First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, Hatuov Dzhambulat Khizirovich, who pointed out the importance of supporting the agricultural industry for the state. General Director of the Union, Kovalev Yuriy Ivanovich, made a report on the topic "To the challenges of a new reality, one can and must find the answers!", in which he shared his assessment of the 2020 results and tendencies of 2021, taking into account the COVID-19 factor. He also identified the most important practical goal of the Union for the next year – maintaining the production profitability of efficient Russian pig-breeding companies at the level ensuring expanded reproduction in the long run.
